This book, using lived experiences of families, unveils and names the deep rooted structural and practical challenges of religious institutions and government in the implementation of an inclusive theology and inclusive programmes respectively for children with disabilities at grassroots level.

The book not only highlights barriers such as negative cultural elements and a lack of institutional support systems, but also features opportunities and available avenues that can support a deliberate theology of care. This book is an eye opener to the reality of challenges of children living with disabilities in our society, in the church, and in Islamic communities. The socio-cultural experiences of families and their children living with disabilities are located in a matrilineal setting of Malawi.
